This was fixed in the Remastered version. Stronghold also features full parity with the Stronghold 3 expansion. However, unlike Stronghold 3, the expansion cost is not included with the game anymore.
In 2009, IOS developer Tapinator developed a version of the game for iOS devices. The game was a single-player game, and it was released in two versions: a paid version and a free-to-play version. The paid version came with extra high-end content, including a new map, new unit types, a new profession, and a new special map. The game was later rebranded to Free Stronghold and was no longer tied to any brand of iOS device. The game was eventually released in all three territories (US, UK, and Europe), and many new features and special maps were added.
On May 8, 2017, it was announced that a remastered version of Stronghold would be repackaged as Stronghold: Deluxe – The Complete Edition to be added to Steam's Early Access program and released on July 25, 2017. Original game developer IOS Ltd also announced new Stronghold: Deluxe 2 – The Complete Edition for iOS. Improvements over Deluxe 1.3 include: New map, v6.0.1.6 for fixes; Music and soundtracks, VO, and Battle Back Text; More soldiers types for both sides; Less equipment needed for units; New units with abilities and new castle features; New professions; New graphics; Improved AI; More maps of varying difficulty; More available for free; Rebuilt scenario editor; Space for maps; Over 30 scenarios; Replaces original scenario saved on PC; New achievements for new challenges to meet; Improved tutorial; Improved lives system; More maps and more players; More choices for mode; New starting music after player finished his first scenario, new starting room; Full parity with Deluxe 1.3.
